The Baking Stone Conversion Kit converts a compatible oven into a high-performance stone-cooking surface. Compatibility is not assumed from a brand name: it is reviewed per oven — model, internal dimensions, thickness, support surface, airflow, clearance, and intended use — before any quote is approved.

The two-stone chamber

Two stones: a baking chamber, not just a bigger deck

The commercial kit contains two stones for a specific reason, and it is not quantity for its own sake. One stone goes on the bottom rack as the cooking surface. The second goes on the rack immediately above the food, acting as a ceiling. Lowering the effective ceiling height and redirecting heat back down onto the product creates a baking chamber inside a standard oven — the same principle as a purpose-built deck oven, assembled from equipment you already own.

Two stones also roughly double the stored energy and the radiating surface inside the cavity. Once at temperature they are a heat source in their own right, radiating steadily toward the cooler front of the oven — and narrowing the front-to-back difference substantially. In practice, most operators stop rotating pans for the items they run on the deck.

Performance during service

Better bottom heat: a hot, stable surface directly under the product instead of a thin pan in moving air. Better radiant heat: the stones work the top of the product as well as the base. And a substantially reduced front-to-back temperature difference, so pans need less rotating.

Recovery when the door opens

When the door opens, cavity air is lost immediately — but the stones have barely moved. A stone-converted oven typically returns to working temperature within roughly half a minute to a minute, against several minutes for an oven with no thermal mass in it. That figure is an informed estimate, not a measured specification: it depends on stone thickness and dimensions, starting temperature, oven construction, food load, and how often the door is opened.

Heat retention through an interruption

If a burner or pilot drops during service, a fully heated stone continues melting, finishing, and holding food while the oven is brought back — commonly in the range of one and a half to two hours, depending on stone thickness and dimensions, starting temperature, oven construction, food load, and how often the door is opened. That range is likewise an informed estimate, not a measured specification.

  2. A BSCK consultant reviews compatibility and documents your sizing.
  3. You receive a recommendation, confirmed pricing, delivery cost, and estimated delivery time.
  4. Nothing is charged until you approve the quote.
  5. Your sizing stays on file, so replacements and repeat orders need no re-measuring.

The BSCK 24-month limited guarantee

Your BSCK Stone is guaranteed against cracking under normal oven operation for 24 months from delivery, provided it has been installed, operated, handled, and stored in accordance with the instructions supplied with your kit.

Conditions of the guarantee

  • Always bring the stone up from a room-temperature oven. Never place a cold stone into a preheated oven.
  • Allow 30 to 45 minutes for the stone to reach operating temperature before loading food.
  • Allow the stone to cool gradually in the oven. Do not remove it hot or cool it with forced air or liquid.
  • Keep water and ice off a hot stone. When adding steam, place the water pan on the oven floor, never in contact with the stone.
  • Keep wet and greasy items off the stone surface — use a pan, cookie sheet, parchment, or foil.
  • Never place the stone directly on a heating element or in direct contact with open flame. Grills and open-flame applications require a metal flame diverter.
  • Maintain approximately one inch of clearance on all sides for airflow.

What does the compatibility review check?

Does the kit fit every oven of a given brand?

No — a brand appearing on any list does not guarantee that every model is compatible. Compatibility depends on the specific model, its dimensions, support, airflow, clearance, and intended use, which is exactly what the review confirms.

Is the stone food-safe?

The stone supplied is NSF certified to NSF/ANSI 4 for use in baking ovens and for direct food contact — an independent certification and a property of the material itself, verifiable independently.

How long does delivery take?

Delivery timing depends on destination, stone dimensions, thickness, and whether the order is standard or custom cut — so timing is confirmed at quote rather than advertised as a single figure. Every quote states the expected delivery window before the order is finalised, and custom cutting adds production time that is disclosed up front.

What if a stone cracks or needs replacing later?

Because your sizing is on file after the compatibility review, replacements are cut to the same specification without re-measuring. Replacement stones are also available for ovens whose original manufacturer no longer supplies one.
